23 FACES

Culture photography. Cameroon/Africa.

Four weeks in a little mountain village of Westafrica. Charity work. Adventure time. My first intercontinental travel. My first big adventure and I directly felt in love with this kind of travelling. That was the moment when everything started, when the travel bug has catched me and where my passion about particullary adventures got on fire. Without my super intense time in Cameroon I wouldn´t be here in Indonesia now, writing a blog and sharing my stories with you. Living in a very little village called Enwen (District of Batibo City, close to the nigerian border) was that much out of my comfort zone that it challenged me a lot. A lot! I had a hard struggle to cope with everything even when I always ever wanted to go to the black continent. Mama Africa was calling me since I was in highschool. I had the wish of flying to the South Sudan to help where help was needed the most at that time. So going there was one of my biggest dreams but therefore my budget was way too little. Yeh, nothing is for free, realising dreams do cost money. When the solar installation project crossed my path, I -of course- directly jumped in. I was fighting at work to get four weeks of holiday in a row. Nobody -except the boss- ever had has this amount in a row before. Knowing what I want and being able to fight like a lion had let me win this battle and three month later I landed in Jaunde, the captial of Cameroon.

This series is about people that I´ve met, people that I´ve spent time with and about faces that I wanted to capture because they and the stories that they were telling; their eyes, their wrinkles, their smile, their soul catched me.

23 portraits. 23 times of thank you for letting me catch these moments. Looking to every single one of you is giving me back all my feelings I´ve once felt in the country of the red soil and it makes me want to go back so strong.

Your expression is mine. <3

“The eyes are the mirror of the soul and reflect everything that seems to be hidden; and like a mirror, they also reflect the person looking into them.”
